The Milan Girls Varsity Soccer team notched their second victory of the season with a 1-0 win at home against St. Mary’s Catholic Central on April 13.

The Sun Times News followed up with Big Reds Coach Phillip Hayes who said overall the game against SMCC went well considering they came out on top

“There are a lot of things that we are working on and putting together so it can be hard to get the proper outcome you are looking for,” Hayes said. “Honestly, I think that we did very well overall as a unit, but it can always be better. I think that once we are all on the same page when it comes to working together and putting all of the missing pieces together we will be just fine this season. The team itself is balanced very well when it comes to standout players.”

Hayes said the SMCC game like the others have been team efforts.

“All of the players contribute in their own special ways, which is what makes this team unique,” Hayes said.

The team record is 2-1-1 for Milan as they look ahead to the tough matches ahead in the Huron League.

“We are a few games in when it comes to the Huron League matches, so it’s extremely important to get the best results possible for the Huron League standings in the end,” Hayes said.
