Scio Township firefighters responded to a vehicle crash on Dexter Ann Arbor Road that led to one driver suffering serious injuries.
Scio Township Fire Chief Andrew Houde told the Sun Times News the township fire department responded to a crash on Dexter Ann Arbor Road just before 12:30 p.m. on April 16. He said Scio’s first crew found a three-car accident with one of the vehicles on fire and another with the driver trapped in the vehicle.
“Our crews were able to extinguish the fire and extricate a female driver in about 20 minutes,” Houde said.
The female driver, who was the only one injured, suffered serious injuries, according to Houde. She was transported to the University of Michigan hospital for treatment. Houde said the injuries were related to the crash, not the fire.
The road was closed for about an hour while the incident was mitigated.
Huron Valley Ambulance (HVA) did the patient transport with assistance from Scio and the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office managed traffic control and the investigation.
