A community fundraiser is planned to support Milan High School’s Code Red Robotics team as it nears qualification for the state competition.
Moving Milan Forward will host a dessert bake-off from 4 to 6 p.m. April 11 at American Legion Post 268. The event will include a 50/50 raffle, themed baskets, auction or raffle items, and $5 tasting tickets that allow attendees to sample desserts and vote for their favorites.
Jodie Franklin said she was asked by a robotics parent to help with fundraising. If the team advances, Franklin said the cost includes a $5,000 entry fee plus travel and boarding. Even if the team does not qualify this year, she said the support will help build for next season.
Moving Milan Forward is matching the first $2,500 raised. Those who cannot attend can still donate online, mail a check made out to Milan Area Schools with “Code Red Robotics” in the memo, donate auction or raffle items, or contribute returnable bottles and cans.
