Dexter Track and Field Teams Split with Pioneer

The Dexter track and field teams hosted Ann Arbor Pioneer in a SEC Red dual meet and the Dreads earned a split in the boys and girls meets.

The boys had a dominant showing with numerous top-three finishes to defeat Ann Arbor Pioneer 77–60.

The Dreadnaughts controlled the sprints early, with Josh Graybill leading the way by finishing second in the 100 meters (11.51) and winning the 200 (22.84). He was joined in the 100 by Connor Kril, who placed third (11.65). Kril also added a third-place finish in the 200 (23.54) as Dexter piled up points.

In the 400, Liam Smith placed second (53.00) to pace Dexter, while the distance crew delivered key finishes. Nicholas Hoffman finished third in the 800 (2:06.35), and the 1600 saw Coen Hill take third (4:24.12). Hill came back to win the 3200 (9:59.95), with Nick Martens finishing second (10:08.28) to give Dexter a big 1-2 finish.

Dexter dominated the hurdles, with Owen Sortor sweeping both events, winning the 110 hurdles (16.11) and 300 hurdles (43.25). Gabriel Dobry was runner-up in both races (18.89, 45.26), giving the Dreadnaughts crucial points.

The relays were another strength. Dexter’s A team of John Michael Jerome, Mitchell Ward, Carter Weiss, and Graybill won the 4×100 with a new Dexter school record of 44.10.

The 4×200 team of Ward, Dobry, Graybill, and Jerome placed second (1:33.63), while Dexter also took second in the 4×400 and 4×800 relays.

In the field events, Dexter continued to shine. Colin McIntyre won the shot put (41-9.25), with Aaron Borowski taking third. Borowski came back to win the discus (121-1), while McIntyre placed second. Amarkus Royce cleared 5-9 to win the high jump, and Anthony Delarca-Hernandez won the pole vault (12-0) with teammates Alex Trisdale (second) and Charles Baker (tied for third) and Collin Roller third in the long jump.

The girls team dropped an 89-48 decision to Ann Arbor Pioneer, but the Dreadnaughts turned in several strong performances with multiple top-three finishes across the meet.

Dexter found success in the middle distances, where Claire Steinbrecher placed second in the 400 (1:03.44) and London Cribbins added a third-place finish (1:06.94). In the 800, Lilly Mitchell ran to a runner-up finish (2:20.77), while the 1600 saw Kodie Snyder place third (5:15.99). The distance group continued to contribute in the 3200 with Molly Noesen-Bosscher finishing third (13:36.26).

The hurdles were a highlight for Dexter, led by Giuliana Biundo, who won the 100 hurdles (17.44), with Olivia Jones taking second (17.68). Biundo also added a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles (53.29), while Vivian Schoen placed second in the event (53.15).

Dexter’s relays were consistent point scorers, with the 4×100, 4×200, 4×400, and 4×800 teams all finishing second on the day.

In the field events, Kera Root led the way with a sweep of the throws, winning the shot put (35-6.5) and discus (111-5). She was backed by Jizzelle Spence, who took third in the shot put, and Emily Weiszhaar, who placed third in the discus.

Dexter also dominated the pole vault, sweeping the top three spots with Debbie McCoy winning (10-6), followed by Madelyn Simons (second) and Allie McKaig (third). In the high jump, Dakota Sutter cleared 4-10 to finish second, with Olivia Jones adding a third-place finish, and Sarah Murillo third in the long jump.

Dexter hosted the annual April Showers Invitational Saturday and came away with a number of strong performances, with the top six finishers in each event earning medals.

The boys’ team was led by Amarkus Royce, who won the high jump by clearing 6 feet. Dexter also picked up runner-up finishes in the 4×100 relay and pole vault. The 4×100 team of John Michael Jerome, Mitchell Ward, Carter Weiss, and Josh Graybill finished second in 44.62, while Alex Trisdale was second in the pole vault with a personal-best vault of 12-3.

Dexter added several third-place finishes on the day. Josh Graybill took third in the 200 meters with a time of 22.97, Coen Hill was third in the 3200 in a personal-best 9:18.70, Owen Sortor placed third in the 300 hurdles in a personal-best 41.26, the 4×200 relay team of Jake Fisher, Amarkus Royce, Connor Kril, and Graybill finished third in 1:32.05, and Anthony Delarca-Hernandez was third in the pole vault at 11-9.

Other medal-winning efforts for Dexter included Liam Smith taking fourth in the 400 meters in 53.68 and the 4×400 relay team of Braelin Greuling, Ewan Imfeld, Smith, and Sortor placing fourth in 3:35.67. Sortor also added a fifth-place finish in the 110 hurdles with a personal-best 15.73, Nick Martens was fifth in the 3200 with a personal-best 9:53.48, Colin McIntyre finished fifth in the shot put at 41-11.5, the 4×800 relay team of Nicholas Reiser, Ewan Imfeld, Smith, and Ruaraidh Imfeld was fifth in 8:40.42, and August Shires-Ray earned a medal in the freshman 1600 by placing sixth in a personal-best 5:09.64.

Dexter also saw Aaron Borowski finish sixth in the discus with a throw of 112-3 and Sortor tie for sixth in the high jump by clearing 5-2.

The girls’ team turned in a number of medal-winning performances Saturday.

The Dreadnaughts were especially strong in the distance events. Brooke Ganas claimed the freshman 1600 title with a personal-best time of 5:32.17, while Claire Steinbrecher took third in the 800 in 2:21.50 and Vivian Hoffman was fifth in 2:24.85. Lilly Mitchell added a fourth-place finish in the 1600 with a season-best 5:18.38, and Kodie Snyder placed fifth in the 3200 with a personal-best 11:31.84.

Dexter also found success in the hurdles and relays. Giuliana Biundo earned a medal by finishing sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best 17.22. The 4×100 relay team of Halle Perkins, Maddy Church, Molly Salisbury, and Debbie McCoy placed sixth in 53.02, while the 4×200 team of Vivian Schoen, Church, Dakota Sutter, and Raiden Kipfmiller finished third in 1:53.44. The 4×400 relay of Amelia Cribbins, Hoffman, Mitchell, and Steinbrecher was fifth in 4:19.94, and the 4×800 team of Kodie Snyder, Cribbins, Mitchell, and Hoffman took third in 9:46.53.

In the field events, Kera Root led the way with a win in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 36-1.5 and added a runner-up finish in the discus at 101-3. Jizzelle Spence also medaled twice, placing fourth in the discus with a personal-best 98-5. Dakota Sutter cleared 4-6 to finish fourth in the high jump.

Dexter dominated the pole vault, sweeping the top three spots. Raiden Kipfmiller won the event by clearing 11-3, Madelyn Simons was second at 9-3, and Allie McKaig placed third with a season-best 8-9. Ella McDonnough added a second-place finish in the freshman 100 with a time of 14.45.
