Savit will face Eaton County Prosecutor in November
Washtenaw County Prosecuting Attorney Eli Savit will represent the Democratic Party in the race for Michigan Attorney General this November. Savit was selected by Democratic Party members at their state nominating convention in Detroit over the weekend.
Savit competed against Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald and longtime public defense attorney Bill Noakes to win the nomination.
Savit will face Republican Doug Lloyd in November. Lloyd, currently the Prosecuting Attorney for Eaton County, was selected by members of the Republican Party at their nominating convention on March 28, 2026, in Novi. The winner will replace outgoing Attorney General Dana Nessel on January 1, 2027.
With Michigan’s Republican and Democratic nominating conventions now both complete, party candidates for several of November’s statewide races are set, including Secretary of State.
In that race, current Macomb County Clerk Republican Anthony Forlini will face a Democratic Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist to replace Jocelyn Benson as Michigan’s next Secretary of State.
Other statewide races with party candidates finalized include State Supreme Court and State Board of Education. Republicans will send Michael Warren and Cassandra Morse-Bills to compete for two open seats on the Michigan Supreme Court while Democrats will try to re-elect both Megan Cavanagh and Noah Hood.
Bree Moeggenberg and Terence Collins will represent the Republicans in the race for two seats on Michigan’s State Board of Education while Judith Pritchett and Tiffany Tilley will run for the Democrats.
For university leadership, the Democrats are running Brianna Scott and Kelly Tebay Zemke for the two open Michigan State University Board of Trustees seats, Paul Brown and Amer Makled for the two University of Michigan Board of Regents seats, and Shereef Akeel and Richard Mack for Wayne State University Board of Governors.
Republicans are offering Roger Victory and Julie Maday for Michigan State University Board of Trustees, Lena Epstein and Michael Schostak for University of Michigan Board of Regents, and Christa Murphy and Andy Anuzis for Wayne State University Board of Governors.
