DESCRIPTION:This Valentine’s Day… Whether you’re a fan of Broadway\, classical\, or even rock\, this program of Andrew Lloyd Webber showstoppers and more has something for everyone. Terry Barber and Shelley Keelor breathe new life into hits from many of Broadway’s most beloved shows\, reacquainting you with characters from CATS\, Jesus Christ Superstar\, Evita\, Aspects of Love\, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat\, Les Miserables\, Chicago\, Hamilton\, The Phantom of the Opera\, and more! \n  \nLiterally “setting the stage” for this production is a replica backdrop of the Paris Opera House (Palais Garnier) where the real Phantom of the Opera haunted over 100 years ago causing a chandelier to crash into the audience killing a woman and injuring several others. We will not be recreating that piece of history for you! Don’t miss this epic performance or you may be haunted by your disappointment! \n  \n“Barber has star quality!” – Atlanta Journal – Constitution \n  \nBIO\nInternational countertenor\, Terry Barber\, a former member of the multiple Grammy Award winning group “Chanticleer” is an 8 x Grammy nominee for his most recent solo own album\, “Reimagined: Mercury”. Barber has sung in 17 languages to date and been a soloist for the top venues around the world from the Metropolitan Opera\, to Carnegie Hall\, London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall\, and Moscow’s Svetlanov Hall to name just a few. \n  \nCo-star of the show\, Shelly Keelor is a Silver Palm and Carbonell award-winning actor\, singer and international soloist. She’s starred in leading roles at theaters across the country as Snow White / Disenchanted\, Trish / Kinky Boots\, Beggar Women / Sweeny Todd\, and many more. \n  \nAlso joining the cast is a world-class chamber orchestra including Grace Betry (piano)\, Noah Hertzman (cello)\, Timothy Nicholas (violin)\, and Rick Kissinger (Flute\, Clarinet\, and Saxophone). \n  \nBCPA Tech Club Fundraiser \nDoors to the lobby open at 6:30pm. Come support concession sales during this show that will serve as a fundraiser for the BCPA’s student theater Tech Club.  \nBehind every great show at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts is a team making the magic happen! The BCPA Student Tech Club is where students learn the ins and outs of stagecraft\, from mastering the light board and perfectly balancing sound to managing backstage cues.

SUMMARY:Lecture Series – The Great American Songbook: What Makes it Great? Special Stephen Sondheim Edition Part 2
DESCRIPTION:Kerrytown Concert House is honored to bring back the enormously popular lecture series\, The Great American Songbook: What Makes it Great? featuring the incomparable Brent Wagner (University of Michigan Emeritus Professor of Musical Theatre) with pianist Tyler Driskill (U-M Asst. Prof of Musical Theatre). \n  \nExploring Stephen Sondheim’s work is a natural ‘sequel’ to the fall Rodgers and Hammerstein presentation\, since Oscar Hammerstein was Sondheim’s teacher and mentor. With Sondheim’s passing just 4 years ago\, major revivals and reassessments are proliferating\, as we all appreciate Sondheim’s monumental achievements anew. He was surely the most impactful and inventive writer since Oscar Hammerstein himself. \nPart Two focuses on Sondheim’s own “Golden Age\,” encompassing his work with director Hal Prince\, including Company\, A Little Night Music\, Sweeney Todd\, Merrily We Roll Along\, and continuing with his collaborations with James Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George\, Into the Woods). These works continue to stimulate\, entertain\, and… astonish!

SUMMARY:The Singing Horn: Mary Beth Orr\, French horn & vocalist with pianist Kathryn Goodson
DESCRIPTION:Mary Beth Orr’s The Singing Horn bridges the divide between opposites — folk and classical\, raw and refined\, life and loss. Some selections will flow like a song cycle\, interweaving folk and classical elements\, including works by Mahler\, Bob Dylan\, nostalgic mountain folk melodies like Wayfaring Stranger\, as well as her own original songs.  \nThe crossover of genres is both unexpected and satisfying. This program harnesses the synergy of horn and voice as vessels for storytelling and comes together as a love letter to the poignant connection of the human experience
