Flood Watch Issued Until 12AM for Washtenaw County

A Severe Flood Watch is in effect for southeast Michigan, including areas such as Midland, Bay, Saginaw, and Wayne, from April 4 at 1:30 PM EDT until midnight due to potential flooding from excessive rainfall, with concerns for river and flash flooding in low-lying and urban areas.

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE…A portion of southeast Michigan, including the following
areas, Bay, Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Midland, Oakland,
Saginaw, Sanilac, Shiawassee, St. Clair, Tuscola, Washtenaw and
Wayne.

* WHEN…Until midnight EDT tonight.

* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Area creeks
and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– 1 to 3 inches of rain fell this morning across southeast
Michigan, leading to rises in area rivers and reports of
minor flooding. A second round of rain is expected this
afternoon and evening, with potential for additional amounts
to reach or exceed one inch. The primary concerns are for
additional rises in rivers and areal flooding, although
localized flash flooding cannot be entirely ruled out.
