A Flood Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service until 2 AM on Friday, April 17, 2026. In the last 10 days, most of southeastern Michigan has seen 1.5 to 4.5 inches of rainfall, which has saturated soils before the main spring green up. Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight and continuing through Thursday evening. Over this span of time, an additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall are expected, with 3 to 4 inches possible in some areas dependent on thunderstorm coverage and tracks. Water Resources Commissioner Driskell reports that “all field staff are working throughout the County to address various drainage concerns”. Responses are prioritized based on critical criteria such as safety, public health concerns, imminent damage, and impassable road conditions. Residents are encouraged to report drainage issues. Providing pictures may help redirect staff to the areas that require immediate attention. Report concerns by:
- calling 734-222-6860
- emailing [email protected]
- online at washtenaw.org/196/Report-an-Issue
After-hour emergencies should be reported by calling 911.
