Saline police are investigating a late-night shooting incident on Woodland Drive.
Officers were dispatched at about 11:40 p.m. Thursday, April 16, to the 600 block of Woodland Drive after a caller reported that a shot had been fired but that no one had been struck, according to a release from the Saline Police Department.
Police said there is no active threat to the public.
According to police, two women and one man traveled from Detroit to Saline to confront a woman as she was leaving her workplace. Police said the confrontation stemmed from a prior dispute.
During the encounter, a physical altercation involving three women broke out. At some point, one of the women, who police said is a valid Concealed Pistol License holder, discharged a firearm. The man fled the scene after the gunshot, according to police.
The two women who arrived with the man left the area but later called 911. Pittsfield Township police located them near Campbell and Textile roads, and both were taken into custody and transported to the Saline Police Department for further investigation, police said. The women, ages 28 and 21, are from Detroit. Police said the firearm was recovered.
The victim, a 26-year-old woman from Lincoln Park, was injured during the physical altercation and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police said no gunshot injuries were reported and no one else was harmed.
The investigation remains active. Police said the case will be submitted to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for review and a determination on possible charges once the investigation is complete.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Saline Police Department.
