The Chelsea Police Department reported 412 incidents in February 2026.
Traffic Activity and Violations
Officers conducted 198 traffic stops, issued 41 tickets and 157 warnings during the month. Common violations included impeding traffic (12), registration and plate violations (7), and speeding offenses. Traffic crashes totaled 17.
Additional violations included stop sign violations, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and failure to stop within an assured clear distance. Two crashes were associated with violations during the month.
Crime and Incident Overview
Reported crimes included four retail fraud incidents, two larcenies from buildings, and one larceny from a motor vehicle. Officers also responded to one non-aggravated assault, one forceable sexual contact, and one weapons offense.
Other reported incidents included two operating while intoxicated cases and one controlled substance violation.
Calls and Community Activity
The most common calls for service included 264 non-criminal complaints and 67 miscellaneous complaints. Officers also responded to 12 traffic offenses, eight alarm calls, and three warrants.
Additional activity included animal complaints, sick or injury responses, and traffic-related incidents.
Case Status Overview
At the end of February, Chelsea Police reported 63 total cases. Of those, 26 remained open, four were awaiting lab analysis, and 21 were with the prosecutor’s office. Twelve cases were closed during the month.
