AMENDMENTS TO THE GENERAL CODE OF ORDINANCES CHAPTER 2 – ADMINISTRATION, ARTICLES I – III

Notice is hereby given that the Dexter City Council adopted the following General Code of Ordinances Amendment at a Regular Meeting on the 8th day of December, 2025, which was called to order by Mayor Keough at 7:00 PM Eastern Time.

PRESENT: Aldag, Hubbard, Popov, Schlaff, Tell, Keough

ABSENT:  Semifero

The following ordinance amendment was offered by Member Tell and supported by Member Hubbard:

The City of Dexter City Council hereby ordains, Chapter 2, Articles 1-3 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Dexter, Washtenaw County, Michigan, is hereby amended as follows:

The changes to Chapter 2, Administration, include:

• Modified City Council payroll procedure to be consistent with current process, but added flexibility in the event that Council desires a different pay schedule.

• Added proper references to the City Charter for items such as elections

• Added proper references to Michigan Case Law (MCL)

• Removal of unnecessary time references that have long passed

• Clarified requirements for election to specific offices and removal of election requirements for positions that are no longer elected (City Clerk) for consistency with the Charter

• Removed “elected” descriptor for the City Clerk (is no longer elected) for consistency with the Charter

• General grammatical fixes

• Updated appointment procedure for the City Treasurer for consistency with the Charter

• Updated duties of the City Treasurer for consistency with the Charter
