Dexter Community Schools Hires a New Principal for Operations

Making it official, the Dexter Community Schools (DCS) Board of Education at its March 23 meeting hired Bill Harris for the position of Principal for Operations (PFO).

Harris has been serving as interim PFO since November.

DCS Superintendent Ryan Bruder made the recommendation to the school board to hire Harris.

In his recommendation, Bruder said of Harris, “He has demonstrated a willingness to learn new systems, build relationships with staff, students, and families, and contribute to the overall success of the district.”

According to DCS, Harris has more than 30 years of experience in K–12 public education, having served in a variety of leadership, instructional, and support roles within Ann Arbor Public Schools and higher education.

His career includes positions as an MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) Administrator, elementary school principal, assistant director of student intervention and support services, assistant principal, teacher consultant and special education teacher. He has also taught at the university level as a lecturer at the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University.

Bruder said, “Throughout his career, he has focused on improving student outcomes through inclusive practices, social-emotional learning, and data-informed school improvement efforts, while leading initiatives that support both academic success and student well-being.”
