Dexter Wrestlers Claim Third Straight D1 Team District Title
The Dexter wrestling team used a dominating performance on the Dreadnaughts way to their third straight D1 district championship in Dexter Wednesday night.
The Dreads cruised past Ann Arbor Skyline 71-9 in the semifinals and got by Ann Arbor Pioneer 45-29 in the finals to claim the title.
Kyle Gerharter moved up a weight class and picked up a huge pin at 144 to spark the Dreadnaughts in the finals against Pioneer.
“We wrestled well across the board and had a full lineup, which made a huge difference,” Coach Shawn Chamberlain said.
Seven Dreadnaughts picked up two wins each on the night.
Earning two wins were Cal Schutte, Justin Grissom, Ryan Casavant, Gerharter, Jasper Dye, Collin Roller, and Marshall Schoen.
The Dreadnaughts will have a tough draw in the D1 regional win they face the top-ranked team in D1 Detroit Catholic Central next week.
Dexter will take part in the D1 individual districts at Livonia Stevenson Saturday.
