His Legacy… Francis “Frank” Green of Dexter, Michigan passed away in his home on Base Line Lake on April 5, 2026. He and his twin brother, Bill, were born on December 27, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to Jack and Millicent (Roberts) Green. They lost both parents in a boating accident on Base Line Lake in 1934.

The twins and their sister Dorothy stayed with their older sister Evelyn and her husband until they went to the German Protestant Home for Orphans and Old People in Detroit. They remained at the orphanage until Frank and Bill went to Camp Legion in Dearborn.

From Camp Legion, Frank joined an apprenticeship program at the Henry Ford Trade School. He completed his apprenticeship in 1946 and became a journeyman tool and die maker.  Frank promptly joined the U.S. Army. Upon completing “boot camp,” Frank shipped off to Japan. He was stationed in Kyoto and worked as a photographer, where he photographed such notable figures as Emperor Hirohito and Helen Keller. Frank received an honorable discharge from the Army in 1949.

Frank married the love of his life, Bonita “Bonnie” Fradette in 1955. Daughter Betty was born in 1956; son Jamie was born in 1960. The family moved to Base Line Lake in 1960. Frank worked at Elca Engineering in Dexter from 1960 until he retired in 1994.

Uncle Frank will be remembered as the uncle who taught so many nephews and nieces to drive the boat, water ski, tube, and ride the surf board. He enjoyed traveling with Bonnie, as well as catamaran sailing, paddling, hiking, and cross-country skiing with Betty and Jamie. Frank was an avid cross-country skier and often participated in Michigan Cup ski races. He also enjoyed watching Michigan football and hockey, Lions football, Red Wings hockey, and Tigers baseball.

His Family… Frank will be missed by his daughter, Betty; son, Jamie; sisters- and brother-in-law; and countless nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; father, Jack Green and mother, Millicent (Roberts) Green; sisters, Evelyn and Dorothy; and twin brother, Bill.

His Farewell… A celebration of life gathering will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes in Hamburg, Michigan. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with a service at 12 p.m. Please consider a donation to the St. Vincent De Paul Detroit Summer Camp fund in lieu of flowers. You may leave a message of comfort for Frank’s family at 1-877-231-7900 or sign his guestbook at BorekJennings.com.
