A team of volunteers from the Friends of the Dexter District Library joined forces with the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor on a brisk Saturday morning, March 28, to continue a collaborative used book donation effort benefiting a local charity.
By 9 a.m., 10 volunteers had gathered to move boxes of unsold used books from the library basement, helping fill a Kiwanis box truck. The effort marked the second shipment in an ongoing project aimed at promoting literacy, sustainability and community support.
“This is a win-win,” said Friends President Kevin Vrsek. “We’re able to give these unsold used books a second life while supporting a great local cause.”
Despite chilly conditions, volunteers worked efficiently to load the truck. Participants included Tempie Stahlin, Kevin Vrsek, Amy Jerome, Glenda Haskall, Jim Hutton, Drew Williams, Jeremy Margolis, Kerry O’Hare and Kim Prey.
The Friends group thanks all involved, noting the initiative strengthens community ties while making a meaningful impact for those served by the receiving organization.
