Lauren Richard “Larry” Zahn

A man of steadfast integrity and legendary conversation, passed away peacefully in Holland, Michigan, on March 12, 2026, at the age of 86. Born September 12, 1939, in Ann Arbor to George and Lorena Zahn, Larry carried the values of faith and community throughout his eighty-six years.

A 1957 graduate of Ann Arbor Pioneer High, Larry became a respected figure in regional real estate. As a broker, he didn’t just see land; he saw potential, helping shape the communities he loved with a sharp mind and a kind heart. Yet, his greatest talent was his “gift for gab.” Whether “solving the world’s problems” over breakfast with the guys or chatting with a stranger in line for coffee, Larry believed every person had a story worth hearing.

In his later years, Larry became a fixture of the Holland community. He served on his HOA board and was a familiar face at many local establishments. He found his greatest peace along the West Michigan shoreline, watching boats in the channel or enjoying a sunset over the lake.

Larry was the devoted husband of Debi Zahn for 43 years. His legacy of love continues through his children, Dana Zahn and Christopher (Kim) Zahn; grandchildren, Jessica (Meredith), Christopher Jr. (Laurel), and Connor; brothers, Douglas (Becky) and William (Merry) and sister-in-law Meredith McGill, sister-in-law Carla Garwood (Duane) as well as brother-in-law Craig Sloan (Shirley) and sister-in-law Kathy Rachwal (Scott) and his niece Paige Billinghurst (Trevor) and nephew Brett Garwood (Angelia) and many other nieces and nephews and his great niece and nephews as well as a host of extended family and dear friends who he was blessed to know.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held April 25, 2026, at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap Rd, Holland. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM, followed by an 11:00 AM memorial service and a luncheon. In honor of Larry’s commitment to others, donations may be made to City On A Hill Ministries in Zeeland. He will be deeply missed by all who shared a laugh and a memory with him.
