NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public meeting of the Scio Township Planning Commission will be held at the Scio Township Hall, 827 N. Zeeb Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan, on MONDAY, April 13, 2026 at 6:00 PM. During this meeting the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the following matters:
To review proposed amendments to the Scio Township Zoning Ordinance. Specifically, Section 36-5, Definitions and 36-148, Wind Energy Conversion Systems. It should be noted that the following notice is a SUMMARY ONLY. The full text of the proposed changes may be viewed at the Scio Township Offices, 827 N. Zeeb Road by interested persons during office hours weekdays, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM or on the township website at sciotownship.org.
The proposed amendments would include the following sections of the Scio Township Zoning Ordinance:
Article 36-I In General, Sub-section 36-5, Definitions – Add the following definitions related to “Renewable Energy”: “Abandonment”; “Decommission”; “Dual Use”; “Energy Storage Facility”; “Maximum Tilt”; “Minimum Tilt”; “Nameplate Capacity (Facility)”; “Non-Participating Property”; “Occupied Community Building”; “Participating Property”; “Principal Use Solar System”; “Renewable Energy Facilities”; “Renewable Energy Systems”; “Repowering”; “Solar Array”; “Solar Energy Collector”; “Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS)”.
Article 36-V, Supplementary Regulations, Sub-section 36-148, Wind Energy Conversion Systems to be renamed “Renewable Energy Systems”. The current Section 36-148, Wind Energy Conversion Systems will be removed and revised to provide the following provisions related to “Renewable Energy Systems”: Intent; Facility Boundary; Regulation Schedules for Nameplate Facilities (Solar, Wind, Energy (Battery) Storage Systems; Regulation Schedules for Principal Use Solar Energy Systems and Energy Storage Systems; Regulation Schedule for Principal Use Wind Energy Conversion Systems; and Standards for all Schedule B Renewable Energy Facilities.
Any person having interest in said Township or their duly appointed representatives shall there and then be heard at the above described meetings or adjournment thereat relative to any matters that should come before the Planning Commission.
Scio Township will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed materials being considered at the meeting, to individuals with disabilities at the meeting/hearing upon 10 days notice to Scio Township. Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services should contact Scio Township by writing or calling the Scio Township Staff at (734) 369-9400.
