Bruce was a proud, independent, and principled man who held his faith and family above all. He liked short haircuts, polished shoes, wearing suits to church (even when everyone else went casual), and Sunday check-in calls to family members. Bruce spent his childhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, among a large and loving extended family. He served in the Army for two years of active duty in France and six years in the Army Reserves. His grandsons were especially impressed by his tales of competing in the Intermural Army Basketball League. He was a talented athlete who attended Ripon College in Wisconsin on a basketball scholarship and remained physically active all his life. He set the bar very high for healthy living.
Bruce had a successful career as an insurance executive at International Harvester, Navistar, and Fiat Chrysler while he and Ann raised their family in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan. His work at Chrysler took him all over Europe at the end of his career. He retired at age 62 and enjoyed a long and enriching retirement life, closely involved with all the activities of his children and grandchildren. He and Ann moved to Ann Arbor ten years ago to be closer to their grandchildren and enjoyed following Michigan athletics. Bruce was very active in the Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Church throughout his life.
