AMENDMENT TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE 2026-02

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 2023 CITY OF DEXTER ZONING ORDINANCE BY INCORPORATING AMENDMENTS TO ARTICLE II DEFINITIONS, SECTION 2.02 DEFINITIONS; ARTICLE XI, FORM-BASED DISTRICT, SECTION 11.03.D.1.a-b, NOTES; ARTICLE XIV SPECIFIC USE PROVISIONS, SECTION 14.03 ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS.

At a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dexter, County of Washtenaw, State of Michigan, called to order by Mayor Keough on the 27^th, day of April, 2026, at 7:00 pm, at 3515 Broad Street, Dexter, Michigan:

PRESENT: Aldag, Popov, Schlaff, Semifero, Tell, Keough

ABSENT: Hubbard

The following Amendments to the 2023 City of Dexter Zoning Ordinance was offered by Member Aldag and supported by Member Schlaff:

The City of Dexter City Council hereby ordains:

SECTION 1:  The City of Dexter 2023 Zoning Ordinance is amended by REVISION of Article II DEFINITIONS, Section 2.02, Definitions; Article XI, Form Based District, Section 11.03.D.1.a-b, NOTES; Article XIV Specific Use Provisions, Section 14.03, Accessory Dwelling Units  The full text has been omitted from this notice due to its length, but it is available for review at the City Offices 3515 Broad St, Dexter, MI 48130 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on business days and on the City’s website at www.dextermi.gov, 

SECTION 2: INCONSISTENCIES REPEALED. Any and all other ordinances or resolutions or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

SECTION 3: SEVERABILITY.  Should any section, clause or paragraph of this Ordinance be declared by court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the same will not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or part hereof other than the part declared to be invalid.

SECTION 4:  SAVING CLAUSE.  That nothing in this Ordinance shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding impending in any court, or any rights acquired, or liability incurred, or any cause or causes of action acquired or existing, under any act or ordinance hereby repealed; nor shall any just or legal right or remedy of any character be lost, impaired or affected by this Ordinance.

SECTION 5: EFFECTIVE DATE.  The provisions of this amendment are hereby ordered to take effect seven (7) days following its publication in a newspaper of general circulation within the City, in accordance with PA 110 of 2006, the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act, as amended.
